A Study on Lipid Peroxidation of Platelet in Uremic cases

Abstract
The blood platelet contains large amounts of lipids, some of which are essential for its normal function and thus seems particularly susceptible to lipid peroxidation. Lipid peroxidation maybe one of the factors responsible for the release reaction in platelet function.
Based on these considerations, we have studied lipid peroxides in platelets and its effect upon platelet function in uremia.
The samples were collected from 41 normal control group and 29 uremic group, in which estimations of M. A. , Guanidenum compounds, Hb., bleeding time and other substances were performed The results were summarized as follow.
1. The mean values of M. A. were 1.77¡¾0.41 nM per 109 platelet in control group and 1.23¡¾0.17 nM in non-bleeding group and 0.97¡¾0.12 nM in bleeding group of uremic cases.
2. Generally, M. A. values were decreased inversely to increase of Guanidenum compound values in uremic cases.
3. The decreased value of M. A. in uremic cases was considered to be due to inhibitory action of G.S.A. to lipid peroxidation in platelet.
